A short interview with the founders,
Josef, Tibor, Bojan and Reto.
It is of course the first thing that everyone finds interesting, but why are you so outrageously cheap?
This is down to two lucky coincidences. We received an offer that we couldn’t possibly refuse via a long-standing contact. We were given the opportunity to take over the former server room of a Swiss SAP hosting provider at absolutely unrivalled conditions. We were already aware of the highly secure 200 m2 facility from a previous collaboration, which is why we didn’t hesitate over the offer for long. A short time later, a well-known Swiss private bank sponsored us and gave us two dozen Enterprise-class servers. This was how our vision of “cloud hosting for all” started. It is a matter of honour for us that we pass on the cheap price to our customers in full.
Explain to us how you work – what do you do differently?
We have a 100% lean approach to work. We believe that simplicity is a virtue. All of our products, functions and services are clearly planned, implemented in lean processes and continuously improved. We get rid of anything that isn’t necessary and optimise the features that really benefit the users of our tools. Not only does this conserve valuable resources, but it also saves time and money – particularly for our customers. And, last but not least, it’s just more fun this way.
Who are your customers?
Scientists, app developers, software developers, students, universities and engineers, as well as a wide range of start-ups and creative minds. In other words, people with big ideas who want to get started immediately without having to commit to contracts or incur high costs. This is down to the fact that pilot projects rarely lack enthusiasm, but usually do not have a large budget. Working with us, they can achieve a great deal with very little money.
What do you offer your customers?
Affordable computing power, a clear and intuitive interface, truly clever features, modularity and scalability. What’s more, everything is available from the get-go. Additional functions, more power or more storage space can simply be added on the fly. This allows you to remain in the flow and work without any interruptions. You simply take a tool out of the toolbox, work with it as long as it helps you, and put it back when you no longer need it. There are no minimum contract lengths and no surprises. With our offering, you only pay for the tools and services that you have chosen – for as long as your configuration is active. It’s quite simple.
Who are the driving forces behind CloudBit, or so to say, who are you?
Josef Hertli, Tibor Olah, Bojan Jovanovic and Reto Giezendanner. We have known each other for a very long time and have been actively working together with companies in the premium cloud-hosting segment since 2009. We have incorporated everything we have learned from these companies into CloudBit.
What support do you provide?
Here at Cloudbit, we work with a completely lean approach. For this reason, we do not offer 24/7 support. However, we have structured everything so simply and intuitively that users should hardly have any questions. We are, of course, happy to help our users where needed. We usually respond to any requests or issues that we receive via our ticketing system within 24 hours (best effort). For the time being, we operate in German and English.
